Dear Eastry NHWA criminal gang working in the area has been targeting elderly and disable people in a variety of ways. In some cases an individual looks for such people on the street or in their garden and chats to them in a friendly way eventually getting around to mentioning repair work they might need to their house and that they know someone who helped them and would recommend. They may also claim to have worked for the person before. The people recommended charge extremely high rates and do a poor job.
They took payment by cheque up front and cashed it very quickly before the cheque could be stopped. The work was often to do with the roof or guttering but in one case was to get rid of a rat infestation for which they charged a wacking £8000 or so. The gang went under several names including ‘Top Tier Construction’.Arrests have been made but folk should be aware of people using tactics like this to rob them of their savings.Thank you Simon Dundas for reporting this:
