Kent Police Newsletter

As the darker evenings and colder weather draws closer, I remind residents to consider installing external security lighting to their properties, and ensure all windows and doors are locked before going to bed. Remember to remove all valuables from vehicles and remember to check your vehicle is locked before leaving it unattended. Adding CCTV to cover the outside of your property and vehicle can be a good deterrent and also help with any police investigations.

This month, Kent Police took part in a ‘Safer Business Action Week’. The purpose of this initiative was to focus on supporting businesses by tackling business crime and promoting collaborative working between police and the business community. I attended lots of businesses across the Eastry ward, conducting high visibility policing, engaging with local businesses, and providing crime prevention advice.

On 09/10/2024 officers from the Dover Neighbourhood Team were joined by the Roads Policing Team to engage with motorist along the A256, Ramsgate Road between the Ebbsfleet roundabout and the Sandwich Bypass. A number of vehicles were stopped, and drivers spoken to. This resulted in:

1 x arrest for drug driving

13 Traffic Offence Reports for offences including no insurance, excess weight, insecure load, speeding, bald tyre and people not wearing seatbelts.

3 x vehicle seizures for offences including no insurance and no tax.

This was a day of action operation with joint partnership working which we will continue to organise sporadically throughout the year to target motorists who are not abiding by the Road Traffic Act and in turn putting themselves and other road users at risk of harm.
