Nicholas Kenton

Councillor

Nick Kenton has been an EPC Councillor for 23 years. This makes Nick the longest serving and most experienced Eastry Parish councillor.

Nick is happiest in Eastry, he has lived here all his life, having been born and brought up on the family farm on Felderland Lane.

After leaving school Nick decided that outdoor live was for him, he then embarked on studying agriculture at Harper Adams University, Shropshire before returning to the family farm
which he has run ever since.

A keen sportsman, Nick played hockey for Deal for almost 20- years and still enjoys long distance hiking with his wife, they have ticked off the 192-mile
Coast to Coast route as well as all the Lake District peaks.

When Nick joined Eastry Parish Council in 2000 he wanted to become more involved in village life and in particular help develop and maintain the many green spaces within the
village.

During this time, he is proud to have overseen the landscaping of the village paradeand the creation of the skate park and play areas in the Gun Park.

Nick considers that enhancing green space can have an immediate and positive effect on the look and quality of an area. To help further enhance the quality of life in Eastry,

Nick is keen to tackle antisocial speeding, parking and noisy vehicles – all of which are top priorities for EPC.

Over the years, Nick has served on all the Parish Council’s sub committees and presentlyserves on its planning and finance committees.

Nick is also an elected Dover District Councillor, and for 18-years has until recently held a cabinet position with responsibility for
the district’s waste management plan.

Nick believes his role at Dover dovetails nicely with EPC as it helps to give advance warning of decision making which can have an influence on Eastry.
