Kirsty Bell became a member of Eastry Parish Council shortly after moving with her family to the village in 2022. Though new to Eastry, she is familiar with the area, having lived nearby in Ash and Sandwich for nearly 15 years. A busy working mother with two teenagers about to start university, Kirsty manages a recruitment business from home with her husband Simon. In addition, she finds time to support Mary on admin for the B&B rooms at The Five Bells.
Kirsty loves village life, particularly the convenience of being able to walk to local shops, the post office, and the pub, without relying on a car. However, she is passionate about making the village safer for pedestrians. Her goal is to improve driver behaviour and reduce speeding, especially on the roads leading to and from Eastry. Kirsty believes that reducing the speed limit to 20mph on all village roads would enhance the quality of life in Eastry.
It’s no surprise that Kirsty is an active member of the Eastry Parish Council’s Transport Committee. The committee is currently working to establish a 20mph zone in the village and is engaging with Stagecoach and Kent County Council to ensure bus services are maintained and improved.
Kirsty encourages residents to get involved by reporting incidents of speeding, reckless driving, or problematic parking. She asks that people note the location, date, and time of such occurrences and email them to the parish clerk to help build a clearer picture of the situation across the village.
