Eastry lies on the Roman road north from Dover to Richborough Castle. It was here that a royal palace of the Saxon kings of Kent stood. The village has lots of shops and facilities including a Primary School, Village Hall, Church Hall and Parish Room, Pub, Post Office, Pharmacy, Butchers, Bakers, Foodstore, Newsagents, Chip Shop, Chinese Takeaway and Veterinary Surgery. Sports facilities include football, cricket and a bowling green.
