My Community Voice – Eastry

Introduction

Last month I met with Eastry Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators to discuss recent issues and offer advice to be passed to the community. This was an interesting meeting with local concerns addressed.

I have also attended Eastry Primary School on several occasions to deal with parking issues at school drop off and collection times. I have been joined by Community Warden Peter Gill.

I have been within the village regularly on foot and completing vehicle and speed checks.

Unfortunately due to a period of annual leave I have not been working for past three weeks, but I have now returned to duty and will ensure I attend the village and surrounding area as often as possible and local events when available.

Incidents of Note

As stated, I have been within Eastry completing Speed Enforcement Checks, primarily on entrances to and from the village. I will continue to do this and issue Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) to those breaking the speed limit. I have also completed road checks in surrounding areas with drivers reported for numerous offences including driving whilst using a mobile phone, driving without third party insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

We are continuing to receive reports of nuisance motor vehicle in and around the A256 and close to Betteshanger. These reports are primarily late at night and sometimes early hours of the morning and reports are of numerous cars and motorcycles being driven in a dangerous manner. Officers have been deployed to this on each occasion. Any offences apparent will be dealt with either by means of Traffic Offence Report (TOR) or by a section 59 warning notice enabling police to seize the car should the driver continue to drive in such a careless manner.

Can I please encourage everyone to sign up to My Community Voice website. This will enable me to send updates of recent issues as well as letting residents know when I will be attending local events and engagements.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible when out on foot patrol within the area – especially now the weather is improving!
