Great British Spring Clean Campaign from the 25th of March to the 10th of April 2022.

This year’s Great British Spring Clean Campaign that is running from the 25th of March to the 10th of April 2022.

Now in its seventh year Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign in which businesses, the public, local councils, community groups and of course schools are encouraged to get involved in activities to help improve the environment we all share.

DDC is supporting the campaign by making litter picking equipment available to community groups and arranging for waste collected on litter picks to be collected. In addition to this we are also pleased to announce that we doing something slightly different this year too! We are hosting a number of pop up litter picking events across the district during the campaign period. At these events your good selves and the public are invited to turn up and litter pick with us as much or as little as you would like. Just one bag can make a big difference after all! Members of our Environmental Crime Team and Community Development team will be on hand too to answer any questions and to talk about the topic of litter.

If you or any community groups within your parish or ward want to organise a litter pick, please see our waste and recycling pages or speak to Dan Welsh in Waste Services for advice. If you’re organising something, have a chat with Amanda Baker in PR and we can look at promoting it.

As part of the campaign we are also launching two competitions:

  • Our Environmental Awards competition which formally recognises the unsung heroes working hard in our communities to improve our environment
  • Our Do the right thing and put your litter in the bin under 18s littering poster design competition.
