Introducing Community Roots

Dear Town & Parish Councils,

We would like to introduce you to our new project – Community Roots.

This new project entails a new asset for our communities, our Community Roots van! A modified and adapted Mercedes Sprinter with workspace onboard and unlimited data and Wi-Fi so we can work out and about across the Dover District, including our rural areas and reducing digital exclusion.

Each month will be themed while we work with partners and other departments to provide a wraparound service to residents within the District. We’ll have a webpage live on our website, which includes a calendar that will show where we are for up to 3 months at a time – Community Roots Van (dover.gov.uk)

As the point of contact for the rural areas, I’m working on this project with Rebecca Dunroe, copied in. Therefore, I am emailing not only to make you aware of this exciting new project, but to also make you aware that as we will be coming to various villages, to engage with members of the community. Because of this, we are requesting to park in any accessible communal car parks, like for example Village Hall car parks. If you have any objections, please do not hesitate to contact us, so we can seek alternative parking facilities.

We will be launching the project in Wingham on Tuesday 14th February, 10am – 12pm, and you are welcome to join us. If you would like to look around the van at a different time, please get in touch so we can arrange a viewing.

For any other questions, please do get in touch, otherwise we look forward to seeing you across the year and we thank you for your support.
